HORSCH Maschinen GmbH in the course of times

Early history

In 1979 Michael Horsch successfully passed his apprenticeship final examination and moved to the USA  with the purpose of farming there. In order to complete his community service, he had to return to Germany. During his community service he was working on direct seeding machines. Additionally, he was incited by a relative, also a farmer, to develop foil maize seed technology.

Foundation

The HORSCH Maschinen GmbH was founded in 1984 by Michael Horsch and his uncle Walter Horsch as managing directors. Dankwart Horsch, Hans-Ulrich Horsch and Eckhard Eyer became shareholders.

1998    Foundation of HORSCH France SARL
            Construction of the FIT Centre

2000    Foundation of HORSCH Anderson in the USA

2001    Development of Terrano FX and Terra-Grip tines

2002    Development of Tigers for deep soil cultivation up to plough replacement

2003    Foundation of HORSCH Agro Soyuz in the Ukraine
            Stop of the Trac production
            World record in Combi-seeding
            New double disc coulter seeding technology: Pronto

2004    Market entry in single corn seeding  technology form maise: Maistro

2005    Revision of Airseeder: construction of Sprinter

2006    Due to new PPF-System seeding and fertilizing is possible in one pass
            Establishment of the HORSCH Foundarion

2007    Construction of the production facility in Ronneburg
            Market entry with short disc harrow: Joker

2008    Receiving of the most important Bavarian economic award "Bavarians Best 50"
            Foundation of HORSCH Rus

2009    25 years HORSCH Maschinen GmbH

2010    Winning the business award "Großer Preis des Mittelstandes” ("Grand Prize for Medium-Sized Enterprises ")

2011    Foundation of HORSCH UK
            Foundation of HORSCH LEEB Application Systems GmbH and thus a re-entry into the plant protection technology sector
